Metropolitan Police, Newham, Hackney ve Wlatham Forest bölgelerinde 11 Ocak – 16 Şubat 2008 tarihleri arasında genel evleri hedef alan üç kafadarın, 13 kadını gasp ve 7 kadına tecavüz ve ciddi taciz ettiğini açıkladı. Bu saldırıların ikisinde tehdit amacıyla tabanca kullanıldığı da suçlamalar arasında yer aldı.
İbrahim Gündüz, İmani Williams (21) ve Andre Victor, (21) geçen Perşembe günü çıkarıldıkları Snaresbrook Ceza Mahkemesinde juri tarafından suçlu bulunarak sırasıyla, 14, 19 ve 20 yıl hapis cezasına çarptırıldılar.
GÜNDÜZ, ÇETENİN VİTRİNİ OLMUŞ
Williams ve Victor’un başta yalnız çalıştıkları ancak, kadınların genellikle iki siyah erkekten çekindikleri için, İbrahim Gündüz’ü çetelerine kattıklarını açıklayan polis, çetenin son üç saldırısını böylece birlikte gerçekleştirdiğini belirtti.
Koltuk değnekleriyle engelli numarası yapan Gündüz, zili çalıp, binanın kapısını açtırdıktan sonra, diğer sanıkları da içeriye aldığını tespit eden polis, çetenin giderek daha da saldırganlıştığı ve kadınlara toplu olarak da tecavüz etmeye başladığını açıkladı.
İZMARİT VE SPERM YAKALATTI
Metropolitan Police, çeteyi suç mahallinde bıraktıkları sigara izmariti ve spermalarından elde ettikleri DNA ve parmak izlerinden saptadıklarını, üç kafadarın bir tren istasyonunda Gündüz’ün yine koltuk değnekleriyle sakat numarası yaparken CCTV kamerasında tespit edildiklerini belirtti.
Cinayet ve Ciddi Suçlar masası’ndan soruşturma amiri DI Larry Smith sanıkların, “şekerci dükkanında çocuklar gibi hareket ettiğini,” polise rapor etmeyeceklerini düşünerek, özellikle genel evlerde çalışan kadınları hedef aldıklarını ifade etti.
Mahkemeye gelerek sanıkları teşhis eden kadınları, cesaretlerinden dolayı kutlayan Smith, bu soruşturmanın, hangi kesimden gelirse gelsin, polisin mağdurlara eşit şekilde davrandığına dair açık bir örnek teşkil ettiğini de dile getirdi.

Mahkemenin 43 yıl hapis cezasına çarptırdığı 3 kafadarın işlediği suçlar, yer ve tarihleri şöyle:
1. 11 Ocak 2008’de, Walthamstow, Hoe Street üzerinde iki kadın silah zoruyla gasp edildi.
2. 21 Ocak 2008’de tarihinde, Leytonstone High Road üzerinde üç kadın gasp ve taciz edildi.
3. 11 Şubat 2008’de, Forest Gate bölgesinde, Romford Road üzerinde, iki kadın gasp edildi, bir kadın toplu olarak tecavüze uğradı.
4. 13 Şubat 2008’de, Leyton High Road’da üç kadın gasp edildi, ikisi cinsel taciz ve tecavüze uğradı.
5. 14 /Şubat 2008’de, Leytonstone High Road üzerinde farklı yerlerde iki kadın gasp edildi ve toplu olarak tecavüze uğradı.
6. 16 Şubat 2008’de, Hackney’de, Shacklewell Lane üzerinde, bir kadın gaspedildi.

Three men convicted of robing and raping women
Three men were convicted at Snaresbrook Crown Court of robbing and raping women at brothels in east London.
Three men, namely, Ibrahim Gunduz (18) Imani Williams (21) and Andre Victor (21) have been sentenced to 14, 19 and 20 years in prison respectively on 27 November.
Between 11/01/2008 and 16/02/2008 the defendants targeted brothels in Newham, Hackney and Waltham Forest. They targeted a total of six premises and raped 13 women. Seven were also subjected to serious sexual assaults, including rape. On two occasions, they used a small hand gun to threat the victims.
The Police said, Williams and Victor initially worked alone but on finding the women were wary of two black men, they enlisted the help of Gunduz, who is Turkish, for the final three offences. Gunduz posed with a crutch to give the impression he had a limp and after gaining entry through the buzzer system, held the door open for Williams and Victor.
According to the police, the attacks became progressively more violent with women subjected to gang rapes.
The group were caught through DNA evidence on a cigarette butt left by Gunduz, semen left by Victor and Williams and fingerprints from Gunduz and Williams. CCTV also showed the group together at a train station with Gunduz using his crutch.
Investigating officer DI Larry Smith, from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command, said: “We’re pleased to have secured these convictions and taken three violent young men off the streets.
“They acted like kids in a candy shop; they thought they could take what they liked, no doubt thinking they would get away with their crimes as they were targeting prostitutes. Motivated initially by robbery, the attacks they carried out were gratuitous and utterly unnecessary.
“They targeted women who by the nature of their work may have been reluctant to report the matter to police so I am grateful for their bravery in standing up in court and ensuring these three men did not get away with such despicable crimes. I hope it also sends the message that the Met will treat all victims equally regardless of their background and investigate every case thoroughly.”
