Haringey Belediyesi, sınırları içinde yeni evler inşa etmek üzere, 2009-11 yılları arasında 6.9 milyon sterlin hükümet yardımı alacak. “Gelişmekte olan Alan Fonu” adı altında verilen hükümet yardımı, Tottenham Hale ve Haringey Heartlands gibi yörelerde yeni evler ve alt yapı inşa edilmesi amacıyla veriliyor.
Belediyenin ‘Yeniden İnşa ve Yatırım’ kurulu üyesi Kaushika Amin, hükümetin Haringey’deki ev ihtiyacını görmesinin sevindirici olduğunu dile getirerek, “Haringey, geçici evlerde yaşayan aile sayısının, Londra’da ikinci en yüksek olduğu belediyedir. Bu nedenle, daha çok ev inşa etmek ve bunları ailelere dağıtmak çok önemlidir. Ancak, yeni evlerin inşa edildiği yerlerde, buna uygun alt yapının kurulmasını garanti altına almalıyız. Hedefimiz, iyi bir ulaşım bağlantısı ve yurttaşlara iyi belediye hizmetleri veren bir merkezi olan ev siteleri kurmak olmalıdır, yalıtlanmış ev üniteleri değil ” dedi.

Haringey to receive £6.9 million government aid
Haringey Council’s plans for regenerating the borough and addressing its housing shortage has received a major boost after the government granted it the second highest “Growth Area” capital funding allocation in London.
The council will receive in excess of £6.9million from the government in 2009-11 to support plans to create thousands of new homes in the borough.
The Growth Area Funding will help pay for a range of projects to ensure that the necessary infrastructure is in place around key areas earmarked for new housing, such as Tottenham Hale and Haringey Heartlands.
Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Enterprise, Cllr Kaushika Amin, said:
“I am very pleased that the government has recognised the pressing need to create thousands of new homes in Haringey.
“We have the second highest number of families in temporary accommodation in London, and it is vital that new properties are built to give more people a good quality home.
“But clearly we need to ensure that the right infrastructure is in place around new housing developments. Our aim must be to create thriving communities with good transport links and good civic amenities, not isolated housing units.
