‘Homes for Haringey’ 500’ncü evini tamamladı

Homes for Haringey celebrates 500th Decent Home

Homes for Haringey has celebrated the completion of its 500th decent home as part of its £200m Decent Homes programme.

To mark the occasion, tenant Jean Winters was presented with £50 in vouchers, a bouquet of flowers and a hamper of goodies by Homes for Haringey Chief Executive, Paul Bridge, and Cllr John Bevan, Cabinet Member for Housing Services at Haringey Council, as well as representatives from the contractor, Mulalley.

Jean and her husband, Brian, have lived in their three-bedroom home in Oak Avenue, N17 for over 40 years and brought up their family there.  Under the Decent Homes programme, the house has been updated with new doors and windows, and a new kitchen and bathroom.

Everyone involved in the project is delighted at how smoothly everything went.  Speed was of the essence as Brian needed to stay with family and friends throughout the works, due to ill health.  The work was carried out well within the usual three-week timescale. Jean said: “It was absolutely brilliant.  Everyone worked so hard for us, and Brian and I were both thrilled and relieved that he was able to return home so quickly. The contractors were always friendly and polite, they made hardly any mess, and cleared up at the end of every day.  It really could not have been better, and it’s a big thank you all round.”

Cllr John Bevan said: “Having reached our first 500th milestone, it’s very satisfying to see the high standard of work that is being carried out by our contractors.  We look forward to delivering decent homes to thousands more tenants during the five-year programme.”

Homes for Haringey Chief Executive, Paul Bridge, said:  “Our decent homes programme has got off to a very good start, and we intend to continue with this high standard of delivery.  Everyone deserves somewhere decent to live, and we are determined to ensure that every one of our residents has a place that they are pleased to call home.”

Homes for Haringey is the Arms Length Management Organisation managing Haringey Council’s housing stock. It is responsible for services to approx 21,000 council owned properties of which, 16,700 tenanted and 4,500 leasehold
